LIFE EXPERIENCE
Although a Hoosier by birth, I'm a Texan by heart. My parents, Pat and Don Rademacher, moved my brother, John, sister Debi, and I from Indianapolis to West Lake Hills during the summer of 1960. Despite heat, scorpions and remote feeling, we thrived in our new home. Ironically, my parents chose WLH because we could get a brand, new house at a very reasonable $17K! I was lucky to attend Eanes Elementary and to ultimately graduate from Westlake High with the Class of 1973 - the first class to complete all four years in the new high school. Our 50th reunion (gulp!) is this May. After receiving my Journalism degree from UT Austin, I spent most of the next 30 years with the Austin American-Statesman in Media Marketing and Community Development. My work with Central Texas' vast array of businesses, charitable organizations, entertainment venues and hundreds of thousands of individual newspaper readers provided me with strong negotiation skills and a passion for problem solving and Win-Win solutions. My husband, Richard and I were very fortunate to be able to return to West Lake Hills in 1991 with our three children Jenna, Shannon and Hank who benefitted from the stellar Eanes School District and who all have thriving families and careers. Our fabulous grandchildren have rekindled my interest in early childhood and primary education. This interest led me to become a Community Member of the EISD DEI Advisory Board, a member of the Eanes History Center, and a participant at many Westlake Chamber of Commerce events. Active community involvement has provided a wealth of insight around the concerns and priorities of today's young parents and the interests and needs of our area residents. We in West Lake Hills enjoy a fine blend of longtime residents and traditions and the exciting energy that new citizenry provides. I firmly believe that by staying true to our roots while allowing for careful growth we can maintain the unique environment that is West Lake Hills, Texas! Sincerely, Beth Rademacher South
